running out of thread

Got quite a bit of sewing done, the trouble is for the first time with any kit I have ever bought I am running out of many threads. I know I usually stitch with less strands that it says and this time I am not. It is a good job my bag of left over threads is very large. Having to make sure that the threads are matched up in day light or the colours could be very different.

Have managed to join up the two sides of the pattern all the way down so cannot blame any further mistakes on that.

Have finally ordered another kit and after saying I wanted to do one from the Dimensions Gold collection, have chosen a kit from another company, it is of a Geisha walking in a Japanese garden with a pagoda in the back ground, it should match the fan picture. That was stitched in 2005. Hopefully the kit will come before the Easter holidays, as I am sure the picture will be finished before Tuesday.

Tomorrow going to get the main food shopping for my stay cation really looking forward to it, hope to get some sproutes

three ears and Larkrise to Candleford

When stitching it is sometimes easier to over stitch a mistake than pull it out. Yesterday whilst working on the dreaded sewing machine I nearly started to over stitch part of the bear with the lilac bow. Fortunately realised I was trying to create a space for the bears third ear. Did have some pulling back to do as overstitching black stitches is never very effective. This meant I did not achieve my aim to finish that bear yesterday.

Last night was the last in the series "Larkrise to Candleford" It was its usual brilliant funny show but there was no cliff hanger at the end, hope that does not mean there will not be another series.

The weather forcast for this week includes snow! I know Mum and Dad want snow for their holiday but in Norway not England and especially not on Friday when taking them to the airport.

Managed to finish the bear with the lilac bow this evening, will soon be starting the last bear have got to the point now when I really want the picture finished and don't want to do anything else other than stitching. Alarm is set for 6am but really cannot imagine I will be stitching at that time other than in my dreams.

David Hockney and pretzels

Had arranged to go to Skipton to meet friends on Friday but they had seen a David Hockney art exhibition in Ilkley. Having first said I would park outside Edinburgh Woollen Mills, I remebered Tesco and free parking. Got to Ilkley early so looked round Tesco, I wanted to buy the film Kung Fu Panda but could only find one film. Did find a pack of pretzels. Mum and I have spent years looking for them in hidden object games so thought it would be nice to try one. They were very nice and will look out for more.

When we got to the exhibition it did not open until 11am the time our parking ran out so we went to Otley. Driving there from Ilkley my feet were so painful it made me re think my Good Friday meal. Was going to drop Mum and Dad off at the airport then drive to Skipton to get some muscles for a meal. Don't think I can drive that far so will have to get something less expensive at Tesco. We went to three charity shops in Otley which was very nice, would like to go back soon and next time spend some money.

Arriving back in Ilkley we were all ready for something to eat, so it was back to Tesco where Jenny got a salad, Joan and I had Sushi, which was very nice and surprisingly filling.

The David Hockney exhibition was fantastic, was very impressed with www.goldmarkart.com, want to go to another exhibition soon. Thought Joan and Jenny would be talking together about things I could not understand, it was not like that at all, It is a new hobby that I am looking forward to having very much

Calmed down

Spent the day being my usual angry self, switching from never wanting to go to Skipton Camera Club again to being determined not to leave. It is now 9.22pm and I want to sort things out, and am willing to compromise. The silly thing is that nothing needed to be decided until October.

Been working on my cross stitch, the sewing machine pattern is in place and have finished the bears ear, so feeling much happier about it, so that is one less thing to be stressed about. There are 18 stitches to the inch, would prefer to work on a minimum of 22 stitches to the inch.

Will have a look at the sewandso website to see if there are any new kits out.

Uncle Peter came for a short visit, wish he would either come more often or stay longer

tablets and fabric

Really worried about sorting the sewing machine out. Have started the shirt of the panda, then finished 3 rolls of fabric, started the 4th one. Now know the top few stitches of the sewing machine, which I now know are in the right place. Will try and stitch backwards to work out where I went wrong. Think there will be quite a bit of over stitching.

Sent an e-mail to the doctors for a repeat prescription on Thursday night but forgot to tell them which chemist to send it to. Dad went to the doctors and they said they had not got it. I rang them and they found it. Dad went back and they told him the same thing before checking again and they had it.

On Facebook spent some real money to buy a treasure hunter, which is brilliant and has boosted my zoo cash so it was money well spent.

Tomorrow going over to Boundary Mills at Colne, I might even spend the £70.00 I got for Christmas, never had so much money in my purse for so long.

singer sewing machines

This embroidery was stitched 10 years ago, I had problems with the decoration on the Singer sewing machine. I am now working on a picture with another Singer sewing machine in it and having problems with it. Think I have worked out how to do the couching stitch. It is putting the coloured cross stitch in that is not working out. Why is that having to start at the left and work backwards. I usually find it easier to work the other way. Will take a photo tomorrow and see if it is any clearer.

I hate working with gold threads, they dont stay on the thread organisers and you find them all over the house. They have to be tied to the needle and you have to stab the fabric to work it, instead of sliding stitches.

On Friday it would have been my Nana's 100th birthday. I am feeling very sad not because she has died but because my dog Sandy died the week before her 80th birthday, I am missing him so much, how sad is that.
